ABOUT THE ARTIST

Matthew Brawley & A Passion for Sports Art

I've been expressing my passion for sports since the time I could first hold a crayon. My artist's tools have evolved, but my love for the colors, energy, and personality of sports has not waned one bit. I love sitting down in front of a blank page and thinking about all of the possibilities that a new work presents.

As a young sports fan I was indoctrinated into all things Boston-- the Sox, the Celts, the Pats, the B's and the BC Golden Eagles. I still hold those allegiances close to my heart, but since moving to Houston, Texas in my teens I've found new teams to root for as well. While you may see some telltale signs of my regional fandom while looking through my posted work, the truth is this: more than anything, I love great athletes and the memories that they create for us fans. That's what makes it just as fun for this Red Sox fan to work on a Mickey Mantle piece as it is to draw The Splendid Splinter.
